Mizuno mp type 1 driver11/13/2022 ![]() ![]() The stock shaft might have been the most impressive aspect of this club. Now I don’t work the ball much and don’t worry much about hitting the draw, but in comparison to other drivers I have hit, the MP-630 stock set-up is about as anti-left as you are going to find. I still may be in spring form, but I got good consistent results with this head. Thankfully this head, while traditional in looks and feel, offered excellent forgiveness. While the aluminum bat seems to spring off the face and the wooden bat just cracks the ball, so this driver really cracks the ball. If you think in terms of baseball, it resembles the difference between a wooden bat and an aluminum bat. While the muted solid sound is pleasant to the traditional player, the feel was still explosive. It was much lower toned and quieter than many tin can sounding drivers on the market currently. The head offers a very traditional, solid, muted, almost persimmon like sound. At 45” and weighing in at a D-2 it felt very normal in my hands. Personally I liked how this head sat behind the ball without an alignment aid, it was still easy to aim the clubface at the intended target. ![]() ![]() The face is tall with scoring lines from side to side. It does sit a touch open, which can be a visual preference of many good players. At address it looks traditional with the solid black crown sans alignment aid. The head shape itself is very classic pear shaped driver. Standard Tour Velvet grip and a beautiful white, black and red headcover complete this appealing package I’ve had many drivers with all the bells and whistles that offer multiple adjustments, but this time I just wanted just a simple, traditional, plain driver. Every MP driver in the past has always felt and sound amazing.Ĭomes with an awesome cover, dedicated wrench and the standard shaft is the Tour AD J-D1 with many other great options shafts to be had as well through the Yoro dept. The Mizuno MP-630 driver comes in two models, Fast-track and non-fast track. Mizuno cultivated a soft forged iron and adopted it for the MP drivers face so it sounds and feels awesome. It contains Mizunos Harmonic Impact Tech - this is why all MP's feel soft and spongy at impact. It is also adjustable you can adjust the adapter to change the loft from 7.5 to 11.5 in the Type 2 and 8.5 to 10.5 in the Type-1. The JPX 900 is designed to create a high draw, The MP Type-2 will produce a mid trajectory straight shot, The MP Type-1 will produce a low trajectory straight shot. ![]() The Type-2 is 460cc's with a mid trajectory still and low spin designed for straight shots. The Type-1 is 435cc's and it's the lower spin, more workable forward and more shallow CG design of the two. 2 years under development Mizuno has finally taken the wraps off of the new MP series driver and it looks solid. ![]()
